Journey of a Diet Coke Addict.

I come from an 'addictive' family. It's in my gene's. That is one of the many reasons I don't drink very often and try to stay as far away from things I can become easily addicted too. I have seen and lived through the disease of addiction. I have seen first hand the way the disease of addiction has destroyed families, mine included. One day, I will post about it. One day....

With that being said, for years and years I have been drinking diet soda. One reason is because I don't like drinking my calories and for years I have battled my weight so this has always been my go to. Many people think they will lose weight drinking diet soda. Then a girlfriend was telling me how diet soda consumption may actually cause weight gain and   increase in body fat. Not through calories, but through the way our bodies respond to it. This got me thinking.

Tell me if this sounds familiar. You get stressed, you reach for a Diet Coke. You feel like you've gained weight, you reach for a Diet Coke. You want some junk food, you reach for a Diet Coke, don't feel satisfied, reach for another, and then have the junk food anyway. Bad day with the kids, you reach for a Diet Coke, of course. As you can see, for me it's Diet Coke, for you it might be something else. Good or bad, either way, it's an addiction.
"A good thing can be a bad thing if you make it the main thing." How true is that with so many different areas in your life. Addiction can be masked even in the 'good' things in our life.

Last Wednesday, I decided to give up Diet Coke. Cold turkey. I knew I wanted to commit to a week. Keep in mind, every morning I would go to McDonald's and get a large fountain drink. I would then drink more for lunch, dinner and then at night when I was watching TV. Water would only enter my body when I would workout. Seriously, how unhealthy is this? Not until I decided to give it up did I realize how much I did drink.

Day 1. I was tired. It was that feeling when you were back in college and stayed up all night cramming for a test. It was that 2:00 mid afternoon feeling. Exhaustion. By Day 3 I wanted to hurt somebody. I was so frustrated with the fatigue. Patience level was-- zero. Day 4 comes around and I thought I was pregnant. For some of you skinny minnies this is no big deal. For me, I show the second that little stick turns pink.  I looked six weeks pregnant. Bloated was an understatement. Day 6. To be honest, I was just looking forward to my week being over. I kept eating just so I wouldn't want to drink it. I soon realized after thinking for 2 days I was pregnant with Baby #4 that I was bloated because my body was taking in so much water. It's has been depleted of it for years.

Here is the deal. Addiction is no joke. I made it through the week. There is no baby #4 {Thank you Lord}. The bloating was one of the ways my body was trying to adjust. Will I give it up. Honestly, no. Every now and then I will have one. Moderation is something I am not good at but for the sake of my health I need to become good at it.

Have you ever taken a break from your Diet Soda?

Last year around this time I fell in love with Twine. I was getting ready for my first

YES. YES. YES.

This weekend was filled with soccer games, birthday parties and a lot of running around. There is something about watching my boys play sports. It makes me smile. I knew I always wanted to be a 'soccer' mom but didn't realize how much I would enjoy it. We are still learning the fine art of juggling three boys to different spots at the same time. When I see the smiles/giggles/the chest bumps with team mates/ the high fives/the 'thank you mom'... I realize although it's a bit of a juggling act, it's one I am thankful to be doing. As a new week begins I choose to say 'YES'.

This week I am saying yes....
... to HIS will and not my own
... being present wherever I am at
... to not being overwhelmed with my schedule
... teaching and reading to my boys daily about how much Jesus loves them
... to being 'ok' with a bit of a messy house
... yes to writing my hubby a note and putting it in his car before he leaves for work
... yes yes yes to simply sitting down with my sweet Cole and letting him have 100% of my attention
... yes to a much needed dance party with my boys
... yes to prayer
... to being thankful that I get to be the one to teach my Cole and tell him
for the umpteenth time not to touch the t.v, or stick out his tongue
... yes to sticking out my last few days of 'no Diet Coke'
... to working out 5 days this week even if I don't feel like it
... yes to encouraging my boys not only with my words but in my actions
... yes to JOY!
... yes to believing/praying/trusting/ that HIS plan is perfect

How many times do you and I find a million reasons as to why we can't do something or even for that matter, start something? When was the last time someone asked you to try something new and you made an excuse why you couldn't or wouldn't do it? When was the last time you said YES to your role as a mother/manager/school teacher/daughter/blogger...
We all have been given many different roles in our lives that we play. I challenge you this week to say 'YES' to enjoying/smiling/believing that this week YOU are right were you are supposed to be. xoxoxo

So tell me, What are YOU saying yes to this week?

What I Wore Wednesday

Happy Wednesday, Friends!
It’s time once again for What I Wore Wednesday, brought to us by Lindsey of the Pleated Poppy! This week I made a huge effort to snap some pictures of my outfits. My mornings are always crazy with getting the boys off to school and that’s a lot of times when I try to snap a picture or two. Let's be honest it takes me way more than two tries to get a decent picture.

This outfit cost a total of $4.00. Unbelievable. It's so comfy and the boots feel like slippers. Remember me talking about the clothing swap I went to? Well, this is another treasure from that and the boots are from Goodwill. My sweet mom saw them and bought them for me.

I have been slacking on my exercise routine the past two weeks. Life gets crazy, schedules get busy but I am determined to MAKE time to exercise. Believe me, I am a much nicer, more patient mom and wife when I am exercising. Just ask my family! :) I just happened to have my camera laying around right before I was about to head out to my Zumba class.

Random Fashion Facts about Me:
~ I would wear boots everyday of my life if possible.
~ I never wear lipstick because I always feel like I look like a clown! Lip Gloss it is!
~ My husband always laugh at me because he said the first time he met me I was wearing socks and sandals together! Ha!

Tell me a fun fashion fact about you? Oh and would you please go enter my Allora Handmade Giveaway. I bet the earrings would look fab in a WIWW post, just saying!

10 DIY Ideas for Affordable Wall Art

I love a good DIY projects. When successful they usually mean high style for a low price. Art can be super expensive, especially art large enough to fill up big blank walls or if you are like me a need to change it up a bit it won't break the bank. You don't have to spend top dollar for wall art. Check out these 10 inexpensive DIY ideas for affordable wall art.

1.  Metal Baking Dish Art
All of us have metal baking dishes laying around and if your like me and don't cook alot you might as well use them for something! Turn your metal dishes into a fabulous Wall Art. Check out the tutorial on how to make this fabulous art.

2. Greeting Card Art
Do you have any of your cute greeting cards laying around? Why not use them to create this fun art work for your walls.

3. Placemat Art
What I love about this is that you can find cheap, stylish placemats anywhere. Next time you see a sale stock up on them and create a new space for your wall!

4. Transform Old Shutters to Wall Art
What unique idea if you have a cottage style home. You can use it as art and as a way to hold your mail. Super fun idea!

5. Ceiling Rosettes
You can find these at your local home goods store. Paint them and hang them. So simply and so fun. Love the look of these!

What I love about this is the fact that paint chips are free. You can create a huge collage or do a smaller one to fit the style of your space.

10. Fabric Panel Artwork
This was made by one of my favorite blogs. Who doesn't love a giant piece of art. It makes a statement the moment you walk into a room but it often to pricey for many. Why not make it yourself with this step by step tutorial from How About Orange.

YES. YES. YES.

What if I just said yes? What if I just gave up stressing about or resisting what is {and what may be coming}? What if I choose to embrace it. To simply say YES. That is what started my Monday YES posts. It's a reminder to myself to simply see life in all of it's craziness, decisions, shortcomings in a different way.

This week I am saying yes....
... in counting it all joy
... to guarding the words that I allow to come out of my mouth
... I am saying yes in trusting that I believe that my 'enough' is truly enough
... I am saying yes to being silly with my boys
... to getting my Diet Coke and drinking it all by 9am
... to remembering why I loved to dance
... to not comparing myself to other moms
... I am saying yes to cheering my Brady on at his first tournament game
... I am saying yes to being consistent in my parenting even when it easier to give in
... to praying more for my family
... worrying less and trusting my God more
... I am saying yes to being different
.... I am saying yes to jumping on the trampoline with my boys in the rain
... yes to encouraging others with my words
... I am saying yes to putting a lock on my fridge so my sneaky, adorable little Cole will stop opening it every 2 seconds
... I am saying yes to sitting my booty on the couch and watching all my new Fall shows

So tell me, What are YOU saying yes to this week?

{Don't forget to head over to my giveaway. There are some super fab earrings you NEED to win} xoxo

The Missoni Craze

Hello 1970's
Even if before Tuesday you never heard of Missoni or swooned after their trademark stripes and zig zags I am sure you have by now. The famous Italian designs made waves with their Target debut Tuesday and within minutes of the stores opening the fabulous collection was gone. The 400-piece line has everything you can think of with prices between $2.99 for stationary and $599.99 for patio furniture. Which is a literally fraction of the price of the Italian designer's typical offerings, which run from $595 to $1,500.

I love designer clothes but when I do shop it's often at TJ Maxx, H&M or Target. I would like to say I was there the minute the doors opened but I wasn't. I got on facebook and kept seeing all kinds of crazy posts about the cart fulls some of my fashionista friends had purchased. I then knew I was missing out on something big.

It reminded me of Black Friday and while some stay as far away from the craziness of that day I jump right in. My heart starts racing and I get so excited to be apart of the crazy. Which brings me to yesterday morning. I got up and went to Target right away just to see if there was anything left. As I walk to the back of the store guess what I see? Oh my. Oh my. It's the black and white bike everyone was talking about. My heart started racing. I immediately got it down and started riding it. {kidding} I took it to the front of the store and bought that baby. As I was walking out with my adorable bike and a few other Missoni goodies I had found I had 2 people offer to buy it from me in the PARKING LOT.  Seriously? I will say she is adorable.

Not gonna lie I did get on it and feel like I was in New York or in a scene of Sex and The City. It's fabulous but for a mom of three from Ohio I don't know how practical it is. Plus, I am hearing they are going for like triple of what it cost to buy it. {sigh} Should I keep her or not? Here's the kicker I am not one to be a craiglist girl or ebay queen. So, If I do sell her I need your help... who do you use to sell your goods? Did you go to Target and stand in line to snag a piece or two of Missoni? I would love to hear all about it!

What I Wore Wednesday {Clothing Swap Style}

Happy Wednesday, Lovelies!

It's week #22 of linking up with Lindsey and the other lovelies.

What girl doesn't love a little sparkle in her life?

Source: adaanddarcy.blogspot.com via Kate on Pinterest

Do you all remember this post about the fabulous clothing swap I went to this past weekend? I am so excited to show off one of the many outfits I was able to find. Seriously, if you have never been to one you must go. I was able to get 4 pairs of earrings, 1 bracelet, 3 pairs of shoes {Nine West, BCBG and Target}, 2 dresses, 1 pair of dress pants and 5 shirts. All for free. What I love most is that a Women's shelter received everyones left over clothes and friends there was a lot! What a blessing for us and them.

Here is one of the many fabulous finds from that day....

Can I just tell you I wore the same outfit to church and then to work the next day! Do you ever do that? I can't wait to show you all more in the up coming weeks! I used to be a ruffle girl but I am really starting to love the sparkles. What about you? Are you all about the ruffles or all about the fancy sparkles?

How to keep off the 7-10lb weight gain this Holiday Season

Happy Monday, friends! Did you know that many people gain anywhere from 7-10 lbs over the holidays (from Halloween through New Years)?? I k...
