I am BLUSHING {Quick Guide to Applying Fabulous Blush}

I have been asked why I haven't had any beauty posts lately similar to this one. To be honest, I didn't really have a good answer. Except I have felt like I am going through an 'ugly' stage. Have you ever felt like that? You know, where you just look in the mirror and know it's just not working {your face, hair... you get my point}. Then you soon snap out of the 'ugly' stage and start looking fabulous as ever. It's a cycle. Heck, maybe I am the only one who has gone through that and you are the one who has never experienced such a day. If that's true, than I kinda don't like you but please keep reading the blog! {I kid. I kid}

So, I am back with some beautylicious tips. Most of you wear blush, some more than others. I tend to go a bit heavy on the blush. I LOVE it! So, I thought I would fill you in on some 'how to's'.

When beginning to apply your blush look straight into the mirror and apply the blush on the cheekbone from under the center of the eye to your temple. Suck in cheeks {aka the fish face} and use the darkest shade in the hollow making a 'C' shape up to the temples but not higher than eyebrows.

You know the small blush brush that comes with the blush? Don't use it. You need to go get a full round brush. It  gives a professional look and makes the overall look softer. I would make sure and have two separate brushes for your blush and powder.

My SECRETS: Always apply blush to tip of the nose, forehead and chin. {Don't go heavy on the blush but definitely put it under the chin. It gives the appearance of firmer skin. Which will help make the double chin not to double chinnish.} Yes, I did make up that word!!

  • Apply your blush last {make sure everything else is completed, including your eyes}.

  • Place a small amount {i tend to go a little overboard} of blush onto the brush and tap off any excess.

  • Everyone knows when applying to smile, or suck in your cheeks and apply the blush to the apple of your cheek. But make sure and brush it up toward your hairline.

  • Always use a circular motion or short vertical movements.

  • If there are any defines lined from to much blush... Use a clean make-up sponge to blend it in.

Ok, now go be fabulous!
Happy Friday!

What is the Best Way to Wear Eyeliner for My Eye Shape?

Do you use liquid eyeliner or just the normal everyday eye pencil?  I was a pencil girl until I decided to get crazy and try the liquid. I LOVE it and don't see myself going back anytime soon.
Tip: For a classic look, only use liquid eyeliner on the top lash line. For less mess and longer wear time underneath the eye, use a matte powder or pencil along the lower lash line and/or inner rim.
Round eyes: On the upper and lower lash lines, draw a thicker line at the outer corner of the eye, tapering toward the inner corner.
Deep-Set eyes:Use eyeliner on upper lids. Apply eyeliner very close to your lashlines. Avoid black colors which can make your eyes look smaller.
Almond-shaped eyes: Wear thick or thin eyeliner the whole way across the eyelid, both top and bottom.
Small eyes: Line upper and lower eyelids with soft-coloured eyeliner starting above your iris and extend to the outer corner of your eye or slightly upward. Avoid thick black lines, which can actually close up the eye. Smudge the line or use the matching eyeshadow to soften.
Big eyes: Draw a thick, dark-colored line along the upper lashes to help push back the pronounced eyelids. Line the outer corner of the lower lid if desired.
Drooping eyes: Use liner on the lower lash line, but keep the line light and stop before the outer corner.

Remember: Practice makes perfect. Now, go and look fabulous make liquid eyeliner your new signature statement!

Beauty Must Have: The Glamorous Eyelash Curler

Whats in your make-up bag right now? Most likely one my favorite beauty must-haves is in the bottom of that cute little bag you keep all your make-up in. Did you know long eyelashes make the eyes appear wider and brighter? Who wouldn't want to appear to have bigger eyes? Especially those days when you are going on 4 hours of sleep.

One of the easiest ways to instantly improve your eyes is by using my friend, the Eyelash Curler. If you are like myself you aren't born with long thick eyelashes and I know there is no way in hades I have time to try and use fake lashes.

It's not just about having my friend. You need to make sure you use her properly. Here are some sure fire ways to get the most out of your new friend, THE EYELASH CURLER.

How to use best eyelash curler :

Step One:
Make sure you have all your make-up off your eyes.
Step Two: *MOST IMPORTANT STEP * With your blow dryer on low heat, blow air on the curler for 5-7 seconds. Please make sure and touch the metal. It gets hot pretty fast.
Step Three: Open up your curler, clamp your lashes as close to the roots as possible.  Hold for 20-30 seconds.
Step Four: Apply your mascara
Step Five: Although it's not the best thing for your lashes, every once in a while I repeat step 2 and 3 after I have applied my mascara. Please know that the lashes can stick to the curler and be torn from the roots. Sometimes glamorous times call for glamorous measures!!

One of my very favorite eyelash curler is made by Shu Uemura.

It's Beauty time

Okay, so maybe I have a slight issue with finding new products to try but like I have said previously it can take a lot of work to make this hot babysitter  momma of three look good.  Do you remember when WHITE eye shadow was in?  Well fellow beauties it's back and better than ever.  A friend told me about a cheap/fabulous white eye shadow.  When I asked where she found it she said Kohl's.  Not gonna lie.  I am kind of a hater when it comes to Kohl's.  To each his own and so.... of course, I got the "Flirty" Dreamy Eyes Eye shadow at Kohl's and I LOVE IT!

Here is how I use it... take the (Honey Lemonade) shadow from the middle of eyebrow PAST the inside of your eye down about an inch.  Don't go all clownish on me just put a light coat of it on there.  It will make you look more awake and make your eyes look brighter.  I am loving it.

My FAVORITE: Brow/Hair Tint: Fawn

Brow/Hair Tint for use with Eyebrows, Pencils, Brow Powder & Hair Definition - On Sale: Paula's Choice Skin Care & Cosmetics

I have tried Mac, Sephora, Covergirl... you name it, this beauty has tried it.

My favorite is from Paula Begoun.  Let me guess, not to familiar with her.  That would be because I feel like older people like her (no offense).  Which means one of two things.  I am either old and outdated or I am reviving the younger generation with some oldies but goodies.

Here's what I like about it: It makes my brows look darker (comes in different shades), keeps them in place and makes them look like I just got them waxed.  Can I tell you how much I love the feeling of getting my eyebrows waxed?  Kinda weird but I love me some hot wax and a good tug.

The other reason I love it is because I tend to have some gray lighter hairs that tend to shine through my luxurious locks.  You can use this to touch up those not so glam spots and it buys you some time till you have to spend thousands  see your miracle worker/hair dresser!

That's all I have to report on for now.  Now, go get yourself all beautied up!

Beauty 911

Who doesn't love a good find? I know I do especially if it's going to make me look tanner/ thinner/ younger (you see where this is going). So, in my quest to find the next "big" kept secret, I have come across some beauty MUST haves. Unless of course, you have perfect skin, long eyelashes and have time to get manicures every week. If that is you, I DON'T LIKE YOU. Okay, much better now like I was saying, here are some great finds that are fairly inexpensive. Which makes them all the better.

First, I must give props to my mom who was the one who got me hooked on some of the must haves. To know her is to love her. If you don't, you are truly missing out and you will soon meet her. She is adorable and one of the most stylish fiftyish something mamma's around. I don't have to say that either because she wont be reading this (she struggles with the whole computer thing). Love ya mom!

Now, back to the beautiness.....Let me explain these beauty must haves:

Sally Hansen Color Quick: Fast Dry Nail Color Pen
  • Okay, so this only applies to all of you moms that don't like to or don't have the time to get manicures and need something that can take you TWO minutes (Ahem) Did you hear me? TWO minutes to dry and your nails are done. It lasts about 3 days but for a girl like myself this is fantastic. No joke. I bring it in the car and can have my nails painted at a stop light. Yes people, I am that good. Sold at your local Walgreens and CVS. So, for all you crazy couponers, do what you do and use your bucks/cards (whatever those things are called that you use that I can't figure out) and you can be out the door in under $9.00.
Estee Lauder: Lash Primer Plus
  • This is for women like myself who have to use a magnifying glass to see their luxurious lashes.  It's a conditioning base that makes your lashes longer and stronger. You put this on before your mascara. Wait about one minute then put your mascara on and voila..... Pure Hotness!!! This will go for about $17.50.
Tan Towel: Look Good Naked
  • No, I didn't just add the Look Good Naked but come on lets be real who doesn't want to look good naked? Even if your body is beginning to sag in all the wrong areas at least it will be tan and that has to count for something right? You can use these towelettes on your face and body. It gives you no streaking at all. I LOVE these things. Seriously, if I run out and see you with them, you better run because I am coming. I use these all the time. It gives you a great glow without the orange look. Plus, it saves your body from the (scared face) evil tanning bed. These are going to run you about $2.00 a piece.

Alright, that's all I have to report on for now. So, tell us what are some of your secret beauty must haves?
