The Shape of Exercise

We all know how difficult it is to stay in shape and find time to exercise -- especially for us mommas who are crazy busy running from activity to activity or from one diaper change to the next.  How has your exercise or lack of exercise been going lately? For me, I have noticed a 'lack of'. Which means lack of discipline, lack of energy, lack of patience... I could go on and on. I continue to remind myself that although it isn't the number 1 priority in my life it really does have to be a priority. I can't put it on the back burner or say I will do it or start doing it tomorrow. I need to carve out the time today.

I was quickly reminded of this tonight. I stepped outside of my warm cozy house and into the cold rain. All the while driving I kept making a list about what all I needed to get done and why I shouldn't be taking this hour to work out for myself. Have you ever done this? I pulled in the parking lot turned off my car and ran in the rain to my class. Within five minutes I felt like a new woman. My to-do list went out the window and I was able to focus on myself, get lost in the dancing and simply take some time to get rejuvenated. I left feeling thankful and energized.

It truly is about deciding that you deserve the best that you can be. Make the decision to settle for nothing less. Why? Your kids deserve it, your spouse deserves it and most importantly you deserve it. What are you doing to get moving?
Stop making excuses and Get Moving!

Happy Monday Friends!
I am ready to get this week going. How has your exercise or lack of exercise been going lately? For me, I have noticed a 'lack of'. Which for me means lack of discipline, lack of energy and I could go on and on. This week I am committing to exercising everyday. I know time issues can make it a little more difficult but you always make time for what is important to you. Right?! Think about this:
What if  YOU refused to settle
for less than the BEST in your life?
One of the many ways that you can personally achieve true/no excuse motivation for exercise, and really for life in general, is for you to believe you are worth it and to refuse to settle for anything less than the best for yourself. It truly is about deciding that you deserve the best. You deserve a fantastic body, confidence, excellent health, high levels of energy. Make the decision to settle for nothing less. Why? Because you deserve it! So tell me what are you going to do this week to get moving?
Enjoy your Monday and GET MOVING!

Bring on the HIVES.

Yep, bring on the red splotches. The one thing that wont let me hide the fact that I am scared to death. In fact, I have hives even thinking about Sunday! Did you forget? Thats when I get to dance with a ton of skinny little ladies {and men} to get certified in Zumba! Yikes! I thought I would amuse you with some of the thoughts that are looming in my head about Sunday.

1. What happens if I am the fattest girl there?
2. Will I fall on my face while the instructor is staring at me?
3. What if I trip over my own feet?
4. Will I be the girl with the SWASS?
5. What if they make me go up on stage and do the dougie or something like that?
6. What if I am the girl who thinks she is really good but in reality I am hilariously terrible.
7. What if I am covered in hives the entire 8 hours?
8. Holy crap...eight hours. Will I pass out?
9. What if everyone is in their Zumba gear and I come in with my glitter headband and 'So You Think You Can Dance' shirt. Will I stand out?
10. Okay, no more 'what if's'? I will be freaking fabulous! Right?

How many of us can relate to the 'what if' fear of the unknown? How many times have you and I put off doing something that we know will be good for us out of fear? Fear of rejection, fear of the unknown, fear of looking silly. How many wonderful things have we missed out on?

So, here's to facing our fears head on and not giving into the 'what ifs' of life. We don't have time for it. This life is short. Are you letting fear hold you back?

Why I Zumba and Why You Should Try It.

Since needing to shed the 50+ pounds I gained with my third little love I was determined I would NOT be the "fat" mom of the group or the "I will lose the weight once I have time" kind of mom. I received a call from my fabulous cousin who asked me to go to Zumba with her. I said "yes" since my husband had basketball practice in the next gym over. Little did I know I would fall madly in love.

Since the day I went to that one class my exercise life has forever changed. Here are my Top Ten Reasons I will Zumba until Jesus takes me away.

1.) I can dance and not feel stupid because there are 100 other people who feel just as stupid.
2.) It's the only place I can have "swass" and feel kinda cool.
3.) I laugh A LOT.
4.) It doesn't matter what has happened before I stepped into the gym, when I leave I feel 100% better.
5.) I burn more calories having fun then running for an hour on the treadmill.
6.) For 60 minutes I forget I am a mom of three little boys and feel like a College student doing what she loves... dancing.
7.) I lost ALL of my baby weight.
8.) I don't get bored while doing it. Which also means I don't get burned out and quit!
9.) It holds me accountable to specific days, time and place when I know I will exercise and have fun.
10.) I find myself going there for exercise and leaving with increased confidence and lots of new crazy friends, who are just like me.

I challenge you to go to a class. If you don't know where there is a class in your area, Google it for goodness sake. You will be SO happy you did. Can it be intimidating at first? Yes. Do you feel like a moron? Yes. Do you burn a crap ton of calories? Yes. Do you laugh a lot? Yes. Will you have a blast for 60 minutes? Yes.

So, tell me again. Why aren't you trying it?
